Menopause and acupuncture: the evidence for effectiveness
A recent study published in the British Medical Journal BMJ shows acupuncture to be effective in reducing menopausal systems such as night sweats, hot flushes, sleep disturbances and mood swings.
Other studies show that acupuncture increases oestrogen , progesterone, prolactin and other hormones.
Menopause and Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine has been widely used to treat menopausal symptoms in China, Japan, Korea and other Asian countries. In all clinical trials carried out over the last 4-5 decades comparing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) no adverse effects such as increase of thickness of the endometrium were found with CHM , in contrast , increase of thickness of endometrium with HRT were reported.
